My class is making a 2014 calendar, and each of us have to make an artwork for the month we were given. I chose the month July because I wanted to do something.... summer-y!

Existentialism

For this assignment we were supposed to create an artwork about our own experience as an artist.

This is basically about my insecurities..... ahahahaha.......

You're supposed to start from the left, then make your way to the far right (where I am standing).  THE PEOPLE ARE NOT HOLDING MAPS! The lines are supposed to be the trace of my eyes going through everyone else's beautiful art. :'D

They are all proudly holding their work and showing it to others. However, I on the other hand usually have a lot of trouble showing people my art. I don't exactly know why... I guess I just never think it's good enough? It was even hard to post my stuff on here, to be honest! haha

But uhhh. A lot of people who saw this thought I was holding money??? I'm actually (trying) to hold my art together but it's not working. :'D

I actually really enjoyed making this since I've never made anything so long before! Colouring it was very quick but I had fun choosing the colours :)

Fight the Power

One of the first assignments we got in my Gr. 12 Computer Arts class was called Fight the Power. We were told to "create an artwork that fights against oppression, authority and the mainstream, and gives power back to those without a voice". In order words, create an artwork about people affected by the media or how they overcome struggles created by it.

I decided to talk about how children grow up surrounded by media and how they are affected by what they see.They see the importance of beauty and become self-cautious, they watch violence and see no problem with it. It's almost as if... the real parents are the media, teaching kids from a young age all sorts of things.

Even though not every child is negatively affected by this, it is still a very common issue. Sooo this is what I decided to show in my assignment!

Please try to ignore my inability to shade. :'D IF THERE IS ONE THING THAT I URGENTLY NEED TO PRACTICE FOR NEXT YEAR, IT IS PAINTING.

New header?

I finally added a header on here. :'D The emptiness from before was bothering me...

I just made this one quickly on photoshop... It's not that great so I will probably change it within the next few months once I have something better to put up there. Right now it's very simple and cleeeaaan. The colours remind me of cupcakes for some reason. Does it remind you of cupcakes? I don't know. Okay.

Anyways, I'm going to post some of the stuff I've worked on this semester for my computer art class. High school is almost done and ahhhhhhhhh. I'm looking forward to next year!

Animation Portfolio

Here is my portfolio! I am so happy I got in :'D I was really scared that I wasn't going to make it because I found a lot of mistakes in my portfolio after I handed it in. It still surprises me I made it but I am so thankful ;u;

On another note, I flipped some of the photos before uploading them here so they would face the right way, but for some reason blogger turns them back to what they were like originally... so I'm sorry but you miiighhtttt have to tilt your head for some of the pictures :P

Character

Ah, my character. I first drew her her during the summer of 2012, and she changed a lottt. Maybe one day I'll post all the transformations she went through :P or maybe not..... (considering how bad my first drawing of her was).

Her design is very simple. I regret not spending more time on her though, especially at the end when cleaning up because I can quickly spot some inconsistencies which could have easily been fixed. :( I still love my character but these mistakes will haunt me foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Scoresheet

When I saw this, the first thing that crossed my mind was "....I AM SO AVERAGE AT EVERYTHING" haha. If I had gotten any of the scores lower, I woundnt have gotten in. D: But I think my scores were fair.

If I were to give a single tip to anyone who wishes to apply for this program, it would be to START YOUR PORTFOLIO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!! I started mine somewhat early but still managed to procrastinate. As a result, I spent the night before the portfolio was due cleaning up all my roughs and didn't have time to perfect everything and make it look the way I wanted it to. I am happy with my portfolio but there is no doubt that I could have done better had I given myself more time. HOPE THAT SERVES YOU ALL AS A LESSON ;____; Trust me, you DO NOT want to be like me and start panicking last minute thinking you won't finish in time. I was so scared....

On another note, I want to thank everyone at BTS for all the help, support and guidance. You guys are the bessttttt :D
